Bloom. Create. Sacrifice.

01/22/2023

Hello beautiful people! I’ve been a bit scarce out on this side, but it feels so good to be blogging again! Now I don’t know about you but for me there is just something about a brand, sparkling new year ahead filled with opportunities to grow and live and try and do all the things. Here’s the thing though, everything that is new will eventually become old and so at some point for many of us the “newness” of the year will begin to fade. It’s inevitable that life is going to happen but I have been reminded in so many ways over these 22 days of this year that God is good in every season and everything we need to simply keep going is in Him alone. It can’t be found in people. It can’t be found in something we can buy. It can’t be found in anything in this world. My prayer and hope are that when life happens, no matter how small or how big/good or bad, we would remember that God is with us and that through Him we are capable and never alone.
STRENGTH AND HONOR ARE HER CLOTHING; SHE IS CONFIDENT ABOUT THE FUTURE.” – PROVERBS 31:25

One of the ways I’ve learned to hold myself accountable with each new year is to choose a word that describes what I want to focus on for the year. This is my year to bloom, create, and sacrifice.

These Are My Words for 2023:

Bloom – I am doing all the things I want to do, (with wisdom). I am taking that pressure off myself to get it right the first time and for the days to come I just want to do and try as my heart desires at my own pace while not letting setbacks or perfectionism get in the way of simply enjoying the process. There are so many things I want to learn and get better at and that’s exactly what I am going to do.
Create Well – Last year I overcame a lot of social anxiety and just getting more bold with sharing my words as well as the things I create. My truth is, I’ve got more work to do. For me, creating well is simply continuing to show up, and showing up won’t be dictated by algorithms I don’t control or what the next person is doing. Creating will no longer come with stress but rather joy. Writing is my main priority but I also have some passion projects I am working on as well that I am very excited about.
Sacrifice – I feel it is very necessary to make it a priority this year. Sacrifice isn’t really the sexiest of words in the world we live in but I’ve learned (and still learning) that to grow in any area of life, it will cost me something. Whether it be sacrificing my time to get to know God better to write my next book or staying disciplined financially to meet my financial goals, I understand that I have to be willing to give something up. I’ve not mastered this but something tells me it will stay with me year after year.

Do you have a word for the new year? I’d love to hear it and why you chose it.
